I am delighted to have been chosen as one of five emerging Welsh poets to join five emerging Vietnamese poets on a virtual residency titled Ùo Suo, hosted by Literature Across Frontiers. The project, supported by The British Council, brought us together for a series of workshops and discussions across zoom.
There is more information about the project here: https://nation.cymru/culture/u-o-five-welsh-women-artists-selected-for-prestigious-international-residency/
The project was an incredible opportunity for me. It was my first ever poetry residency, my first experience of working internationally, and the first opportunity I have had to collaborate with other poets. The project focused on translation; in the sense of both translating both from one language to another, and translating or changing meaning. As such, I produced my first ever translation into Welsh (a piece by Lan Anh Chu) and also translated myself into Welsh for the first time.
We will soon be launching a publication containing some of the poems created as part fo the project.
