I have spent a fair part of 2024 sitting on some exciting news - my debut poetry collection for children will be published by Firefly Press in 2026. I still can't quite believe that there will be an actual real life book with my name on it! You can read more about the collection here.
Firefly Press are an award-winning independent children's and YA publisher based in my homeland - wonderful Wales. I really enjoyed working with the team at Firefly on my contribution to And I Hear Dragons and I know I am in excellent hands with this book.
The collection is broadly well-being themed - there are poems about friendship, family, worry, sadness, starting over, being left out and finding your confidence. There's also lots of word-play and silliness for good measure - look out for poems about riduculously speedy snails, disgusting soups, and the surprising brilliance of fleas!
I look forward to updating this blog when I have news of exciting things such as who will be illustrating the book, the cover design, and the release date, but for now, I'll leave you with a photo of me celebrating signing my book contract. We were staying in a hotel and my daughter ran to the local supermarket to get a random selction of supplies for an impromptu party which is why I look a) emotional and b) like I'm celebrating my birthday and Valentines Day at the same time!
